ABOUT

ELONTE DAVIS

Emerging, Detroit-based photographer, Elonte Davis, first picked up a camera as a student at Michigan Technological University in 2016. Pointing the instrument first at his family and immediate community, then around the city at-large, he captures spontaneous, classified, and often unseen inner-city stories throughout each day.

Davis exhibited for the first time in 2021 and has since shown his work throughout Motown, including at the Detroit Artists Market, Detroit X Design, The Carr Center, Irwin House Gallery, the Liquor Basket, ImageWorks in Dearborn, and the Detroit Historical Museum. He was one of the official photographers of BLKOUTWALLS (2023) and other recent clients have included the Motown Museum, Visit Detroit, City Walls, The Detroit Deltas, Rolling Out Magazine, and Childs Play Foundation, Inc.. Davis has implemented workshops on behalf of the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) and his work has been featured in the Michigan Chronicle, Detroit Metro Times, Rolling Out, and on ARTSY.

Elonte Davis photography crystallizes the spirit of a moment and offers a genuine sense of the breadth of Detroit. Through his lens, the invisible  seen, heard, and celebrated; their tales in earnest, revealed. Sought and collected for his uncut honesty, Davis is becoming one of the city's most recognized documentarians.
